Cookies are small files that are placed on your hard drive when you visit certain websites. They contain information about your computer and usually do not contain any personal information. Cookies can not be used to infect the machine with viruses or other malware. Each individual cookie consists of four basic parts:
- Name of website: name of domain or subdomain which set the cookie,
- Cookie Name: cookie has a name that is unique on the page which set the cookie,
- Expiry date: the validity of some cookies expires when you close your browser (ie. session cookie), other cookies will be deleted automatically after reaching the expiration date that has been set (ie. persistent cookies),
- Value: an information in a cookie, which a web page uses to remember a previous visit.
