Given the increasingly numerous market signals about the need to consider in the optimisation process the different possibilities for shipping goods, meeting these expectations Benson Consultants offers the second edition of OptiLogic. In contrast to the previous version, optimisation is carried out on the basis of costs calculated according to pricelists. The new tool is designed for optimising the logistics costs of one’s own and hired transport, as well as shipments via logistics companies.

 
At present, we are carrying out the final tests of a new optimiser which will be a breakthrough solution in transport planning. To date, tests have been extremely successful. Therefore, already in May we plan to launch the first implementations.
 
The new version will be a spectacular expansion of the first one. The aim of the new machine is to globally optimise distribution routes in terms of costs. Costs are calculated on the basis of pricelists attached to vehicles. Companies with their own fleet will certainly appreciate consideration of the availability of a vehicle, the handling of setups, travel time control, the management of two drivers, the limitation of the load capacity, the need to fit out a vehicle with special equipment (a vehicle-mounted hydraulic crane, slider, refrigerator body etc.) and time windows. They can also indicate where a vehicle starts and where it is to end its route, and also command it to return to the base.
 
Companies which use external transport can model two types of pricelists in the optimiser. The first type provides route planning for carriers (transport / forwarding companies) and the settlement based on kilometres. In turn, the other one is useful in the cooperation with logistics companies, where settlements are carried out on the basis of the quantity and distance between the places of forwarding and delivery (without route planning). The algorithm itself decides whether it will be cheaper to send goods with one’s own fleet, a transport/forwarding company or a logistics company.
 
All this happens in the cockpit of the dispatcher who can keep track of the changes  and control the costs of the routes arranged. The dispatcher can launch several optimisation scenarios and select the best one.

As a result, it is possible to easily and quickly plan routes for the whole organisation with an awareness that our goal is to minimise the costs of logistics. All reporting information is immediately available in the Analyses and KPIs Module. Based on the tests performed, we estimate that due to the application of the new optimiser it is possible to reduce the costs of logistics by 5-25%.
